My art collection- Patromino Paravane

Real Life Art is - at its best - a mirror of Real Life, and an insight in the inner world of Man.

Second Life Art is - at its best - a mirror of Second Life and an insight in the inner world of the Avatar.

The art I have collected in Second Life had to be subject to the following two rules:

1. It should be powerful, or it should move me, or touch me, or tickle my intellect.
It is the same for me with Art in Real Life also.

2. I must be able to imagine that it was an Avatar who made the Art.
As soon as a piece of art evoked the image of a real life human being who painted and scanned his image and uploaded it in Second Life, I didn't want to have it. For me, a copy of - for instance - the Mona Lisa in Second Life is not only pointless, but it breaks the illusion of the perfect world in itself that Second Life can be.
This virtual world we are living in is pioneer-land. The art that is made here is in the same wonderful state of being the art of filmmaking was in at the end of the nineteenth century. It has infinite possibilities. It can go into any direction. That is so exciting! Why would anyone want to bother watching real life art over here?
I could have been really puritan about it. I could have only bought art that has been truly made in-world. But where would the line have to be drawn? If somebody takes a picture in SL and works on that picture in Photoshop, it has been out-world! So strictly spoken, Photoshop would be a no-go area until somebody invents a way to use it in-world, with a HUD or with an in-world computer in which one can download the pictures.
But - apart from the fact that it's a lot of times completely uncontrollable whether something has been treated in an out-world application, it would be silly to be so strict about puritan rules like that. It would be a case of "Jeder Konsequenz führt zum Teufel". Weren't we in pioneer land? Shouldn't we be busy with judging the art itself?
So I decided to use the very simple and extremely subjective rule above. That is why sometimes you will find art that has been obviously painted with oil paint on a canvas, for instance.
In those cases, I could imagine an avatar making it, with an easel and paint all over his/her clothes...

In the Main Building of the Museum of Avatar Art, you will find a collection of paintings and photography and some statues describing avatar life, by artists like for instance Stella Costello, Callipygian Christensen, Nightwind Redgrave, Ro Gastel, Rob Barber, VJ Judocus, Seraphein Renoir and many, many more. Check out their names and note-cards!

In the Underwater Sculpture Garden in Xe you will find sculptures made by the legendary Starax Statosky, Stormy Roentgen, Cheen Pitney, Stella Costello, Sasun Steinbeck, Alexandra Mensing, Abbaca Aoi, Elros Tuominen and many, many more. Once again: Check out their names and note-cards.

In the Exhibition Hall you will find a monthly exhibition.

And more of my collection of Avatar Art will be placed in the Wired Blue Centre for Technical Research building, Main Campus of the Elumenata University and on the side of the building, in the Riverside park.

Thanks and gratitude goes to Xenon Darrow, the owner of e-Lumenata University and her team. Without Xenon and others this collection would be hidden in the depths of my inventory!

Look around! Have Fun! Tell others about the artists you enjoy!
Have a wonderful look in the Mirror of Second Life and the inner world of the Avatar!
